    Description

MOFAN ML90 is a high-purity methylal with a content greater than 99.5%,It is an ecological and economical blowing agent with good technical performance. Blended with polyols, its flammability can be controlled. It can be used as the only blowing agent in the formulation, but it also brings advantages in combination with all other blowing agents.

    Unmatched Purity and Performance

MOFAN ML90 stands out in the market due to its unparalleled purity. This high-purity methylal is not just a product; it is a solution designed for manufacturers who prioritize quality and sustainability. The superior purity of MOFAN ML90 ensures that it meets the stringent requirements of various foam applications, providing consistent results and enhancing the overall quality of the final product.

    Ecological and Economical Blowing Agent

As industries strive to reduce their environmental footprint, MOFAN ML90 emerges as an ecological and economical choice. Its formulation allows for effective control of flammability when blended with polyols, making it a safe option for a wide range of applications. This versatility means that MOFAN ML90 can be utilized as the sole blowing agent in formulations or in combination with other blowing agents, offering manufacturers the flexibility they need to optimize their processes.

    Advantages

    ● It is less flammable than n-Pentane and Isopentane which are extremely flammable. blends of polyols with useful amount of Methylal for polyurethane foams show high flash point.

    ● It has a good ecotoxicological profile.

    ● GWP is only 3/5 of the GWP of Pentanes.

    ● It will not hydrolyze in 1 year at pH level above 4 of blended polyols.

    ● It can be fully miscible with all polyols, including aromatic polyester polyols.

    ● It is a strong viscosity reducer. The reduction depends on the viscosity of the polyol itself: the higher the viscosity, the higher the      reduction.

    ● The foaming efficiency of 1 wt added is equivalent to 1.7~1.9wt HCFC-141B.

    FAQ

I produce integral skin polyurethane foam for automotive parts (steering wheels, armrests). Can MOFAN ML90 be used as the sole blowing agent?

Yes, ML90 (high-methylal) can be used as the only blowing agent, providing good surface finish and uniform cell structure with low density.

My rigid foam formulation uses HCFC-141b which is being phased out. Can ML90 replace it?

Yes, ML90 is an ecological and economical alternative. Its boiling point (~42°C) and blowing efficiency are similar, requiring minimal formulation adjustment.

What is the typical dosage of ML90 in flexible foam for furniture?

2–8 phr depending on target density; higher levels reduce density but may increase foam softness. Blend with water for optimum cell opening.

Can ML90 be blended with other blowing agents (e.g., water, cyclopentane, HFC245fa)?

Yes, it works synergistically with all common blowing agents, improving solubility in polyols and reducing the amount of co-blowing agent needed.

My semi-rigid foam for packaging has poor dimensional stability with water alone. How can ML90 help?

Adding 3–5 phr ML90 reduces the water level needed, lowering internal exotherm and improving dimensional stability.

Is MOFAN ML90 flammable? How to handle it safely in a foam plant?

Yes, methylal is flammable. Use proper ventilation, grounding, and explosionproof equipment; it can be safely blended with polyols to reduce flammability.

My spray rigid foam has a rough surface due to fast evaporation of the blowing agent. Will ML90 improve it?

Its moderate boiling point and good solubility in polyols reduce preexpansion, giving a smoother surface.

What is the advantage of ML90 over acetone or other physical blowing agents in flexible foam?

ML90 has lower odor, better solubility, and provides finer cells; it also does not cause foam discoloration.

Can ML90 be used in polyurethane elastomers to reduce density?

Yes, for microcellular elastomers (e.g., shoe soles), use 1–3 phr ML90 together with water; it helps achieve density reduction without large cells.

What is the purity of MOFAN ML90 and how does it affect foam quality?

≥99.5% purity ensures consistent performance, minimal side reactions, and low residual odor in finished foam.
