    FAQ

I produce complex molded foam parts with long flow paths. How can 2040 help?

2040 is a delayed-action catalyst, giving 30–50% longer flow time before gelation, which fills thin or long cavities.

My foam has knit lines and voids due to premature gelling. What solution?

Replace your current catalyst with MOFAN 2040 (0.2–0.4 phr) to allow complete mold filling before cure starts.

Can MOFAN 2040 be used in a high-resilience foam to reduce surface defects?

Yes, its delayed profile reduces the “curl” and surface roughness common in HR foam.

What is the difference between MOFAN 2040 and MOFAN 204?

2040 has a stronger delay effect, suitable for very long flow applications; 204 is slightly faster.

My polyurethane integral skin foam has poor skin thickness control. How to fix?

Use 2040 (0.15–0.3 phr) to delay cure until the skin has fully formed, giving a uniform 1–2 mm skin.

Is MOFAN 2040 compatible with hydrocarbon blowing agents like cyclopentane?

Yes, fully compatible; no negative interaction.

My customer requires a foam that passes the Mercedes-Benz DBL 5452 low-emission standard. Will 2040 meet it?

Yes, it is specifically designed for such stringent automotive interior standards.

Can MOFAN 2040 be used in polyurethane elastomers to increase pot life?

Yes, at 0.1–0.2 phr it can double the pot life compared to standard TEDA.

What is the best co-catalyst with 2040 for a balanced system?

Combine with MOFAN A1 (0.05–0.1 phr) to maintain blow activity while keeping the delay.

How should I adjust the isocyanate index when using 2040?

No adjustment needed; 2040 is a pure tertiary amine with no reactive hydrogen.
