    Description

    MOFAN TMR-2 is a tertiary amine catalyst used to promote polyisocyanurate reaction (trimerization reaction),Provides a uniform and controlled rise profile compared to potassium based catalysts. Used in rigid foam applications where improved flowability is required. MOFAN TMR-2 can also be used in flexible molded foam applications for back-end cure.

    FAQ

    I want to produce PIR foam with extremely low friability. Is TMR-2 better than TMR-30?

    Yes, TMR-2 (a quaternary ammonium salt) gives much lower friability while still providing excellent fire performance.

    My rigid foam has poor adhesion to aluminum foil. How can TMR-2 help?

    Its polar nature improves adhesion to metal surfaces, reducing delamination.

    What is the typical usage level of TMR-2 in a continuous PIR laminate?

    0.4–1.2 phr depending on the desired trimer content and line speed.

    Can TMR-2 be used together with potassium octoate?

    Yes, they are synergistic. A blend of TMR-2 (0.5 phr) and potassium octoate (0.5 phr) gives excellent trimerization with low brittleness.

    My PIR foam has a rough, uneven cell structure. How to improve?

    Increase TMR-2 slightly and reduce the amount of strong gel catalyst to allow more controlled bubble growth.

    Is TMR-2 water-soluble? How does that affect processing?

    Yes, it is water-soluble, but keep water out of the formulation as it will react with isocyanate.

    Does TMR-2 cause corrosion on mixing heads?

    No, it is much less corrosive than alkali metal catalysts.

    My foam panel fails the room temperature aging test (dimensional change >1%). Can TMR-2 fix it?

    Yes, the higher trimer content from TMR-2 improves dimensional stability significantly.

    What is the shelf life of a polyol blend containing TMR-2?

    3–6 months, but avoid moisture pickup as TMR-2 is hygroscopic.

    Can TMR-2 be used in pour-in-place pipe insulation?

    Yes, it provides good flow and low friability, suitable for large-diameter pipes.
